About Me
I teach creative writing with a focus on literary fiction, voice, and revision. As a novelist and university educator, I enjoy helping writers develop work that is both technically accomplished and deeply their own.
My workshops provide environments that are both supportive and intellectually curious; using readings and excerpts of my students’ own writing, we explore questions of memory, history, place and identity, questions that I examine in my own published work. I am available for university teaching, workshops, and masterclasses. I welcome invitations from universities, arts organisations, festivals and literary programmes.
I also undertake manuscript consultations for fiction writers on a selective basis.
